your literature, history, political science, economics, music, or business
class? Are you the advisor for the International Club looking to spice up your
meetings? Are you planning your school's in-service or teacher conference and
looking for a cultural component?
If so, then
KU's Center for Russian, East European and Eurasian Studies (CREES) has a wealth
of resources to share with you. Our experienced presenters can visit your
classroom, in-service, or organization to share cultural facts and artifacts
with your group. We also offer a number of additional classroom resources as
well as curriculum counseling as you create your plans. Another valuable
service, we provide free copies of Russian Life magazine to
Kansas teachers and

| Centers for Economic Education in KS |
The Centers for Economic Education at the state's 6 Regents universities provide teachers with professional development in economic education through graduate credit courses, consultations, and in-service presentations. Partial tuition scholarships for credit courses are available to KS teachers through the KS Council on Economic Education.

| Facing History and Ourselves’ new interactive website, “Be the Change: Upstanders for Human Rights” is a website that profiles the stories of five extraordinary men and women who have made a positive difference in the world. Designed for middle and high school students, and created with the help of student interviewers, “Be the Change” looks at the influences, inspirations and motivations that led the five upstanders to take action on behalf of others. By taking the journey through the website, students connect with a growing global network of their peers who care about creating a more just world.

| Foundation for Teaching Economics |
The FTE was established in 1975 and its mission is to introduce young individuals to an economic way of thinking about national and international issues, and to promote excellence in economic education by helping teachers become more effective educators. FTE focuses its efforts on the high school and middle school grade levels and provides programs and teaching resources which target primarily, but not exclusively, the social studies curriculum. CHECK OUT THE HOLOCAUST CURRICULUM TRUNKS:
Since 1998, the Holocaust Museum Houston has offered Holocaust Curriculum Trunks. These trunks are full of books, posters, CD’s, DVD’s and other material for use in the classroom. Broad reference items and teacher resources supplement the student resources. Perhaps most important of all, there is no charge for use of the trunks! |

The KCEE is a non-profit, business-education- government partnership dedicated to helping Kansas' K-12 teachers teach economics and personal finance. The Council offers programming statewide (LifeSmarts, Stock Market Game TM) and regionally (Financial Fitness I and II) as well as partial tuition scholarships for teachers taking credit courses through its affiliated Centers for Economic Education. |

| Kansas Historical Society |
The Kansas Historical Society offers a wealth of resources for teachers on Kansas history. /Read Kansas! /is a curriculum of student reading cards and teacher lesson plans for primary, intermediate, middle, and high school grades. Each lesson addresses a Kansas history standard as well as a state reading and/or writing standard. The lessons contain from one to 15 reading cards and a teacher lesson plan. The Historical Society also offers standards-based fieldtrips at the Kansas Museum of History, Kansas State Capitol, and many of our 16 State Historic Sites. In addition, teachers can find standards-based Traveling Resource Trunks on a specific theme, which include hands-on activities to help students better understand the history of Kansas.

If you aren't already using the wonderful resources found on the National Archives and Records Administration website, you don't know what you are missing! In addition to providing hundreds of primary sources for immediate use in your classroom, NARA also provides lesson plans and a great set of worksheets you can have your students complete when working with the variety of primary sources found on the website. Be sure to check out all of the other useful resources and the links on the NARA site as well (like links to all of the Presidential Library sites). It truly is worth your time to check out this website!

| The Object of History: Behind the Scenes with the Curators of the National Museum of American History |
| Created by the Center for History and New Media and the Smithsonian's National Museum of American History, The Object of History features an artifact each month from NMAH's collections related to a major topic in U.S. history such as the American Revolution or Civil Rights. The featured objects are accompanied by curator interviews, primary sources and other artifacts. Student have opportunities to participate in live online forums with Smithsonian curators and historians by submitting questions through the website. Additionally, the site includes a "Guide to Doing History with Objects" and an opportunity for students and teachers to curate a virtual exhibit as a culminating activity. Finally, there is a separate section of "Teaching Materials and Resources" that contains classroom activities, ties to standards of learning, and links to associated web resources.

| The Oklahoma City National Memorial & Museum was created to honor those who were killed, those who survived and those changed forever by the 1995 bombing of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City. The Memorial and Museum are dedicated to educating visitors about the impact of violence, informing about events surrounding the bombing, and inspiring hope and healing through lessons learned by those affected.
